News, views and guidebooks for walking, trekking and cycling
Is doing a Camino on your bucket list? We have many guidebooks covering caminos but if you fancy going with an organised group then let CaminoWays help you. As their name suggests, they run walking and cycling tours for camino routes. Here, Lisa shares a little of the company’s history with us.
Paris-born globetrotter Roland Monsegu travelled the world and trekked some of the most spectacular trails around, including the Camino de Santiago, before landing and settling in Ireland. Back in Dublin, Roland set up his first walking holiday company in 2006 at the tender age of 25, and went on to establish CaminoWays.com in 2011, specialising on the famous Camino.
Roland’s vision was to capture the essence of the Camino, its uniqueness: more than just a walking holiday or a pilgrimage, the Camino is a very special cultural experience, a bucket list journey.
CaminoWays.com organises cycling and walking tours on the different Camino de Santiago routes, covering thousands of kilometres of trails across France, Portugal and, of course Spain. The team has organised fundraising treks for many charities, as well as groups, and thousands of Camino pilgrims from all over the world travel with CaminoWays.com each year.
The increasing popularity of active holidays, the lucky star of the Camino and hard work have made CaminoWays.com a success.
CaminoWays.com is now the international leader in its field, the number one operator on the Camino. Since its creation, new brands and interesting trails have also been added to the Greenlife Tours family including FrancigenaWays.com in 2013, IrelandWays.com in 2015 and TrekkingBug.com in 2016.
From humble beginnings and travel itineraries being sent to customers from Roland’s kitchen table, CaminoWays.com has now grown to a team of 27 talented multicultural staff and a new office in Dublin City.
“We want to give everyone the opportunity to experience some of the best walking routes in Europe. A walking holiday is different to any other average holiday. It gives you chance to see places that may otherwise go unnoticed and experience local cultures in depth. Hiking gives you a completely different perspective,” explains director Roland.
Making the Camino and other adventures accessible is key for the CaminoWays.com team: “Our goal is to ensure all our clients get the best possible care and feel looked after from the minute they ring us to get advice. Our Customer Care is something we are particularly proud of. Our website is open for business 24/7 and we have also put a lot of work into providing the best content and information for our clients, travel readers and Camino fans.”
